Social Security and Pensions
In Gertrude's case there has never been a question of who would pay for her care. She has a pension and Social Security that provide sufficient income for her to pay for her long term care. She has been in the nursing home for two and a half years now. With the help of her two sisters (89 and 87 years of age) Gertrude, 99, was able to stay in her own home prior to her nursing home placement. Gertrude and her sisters went through the depression era and are proud of being on their own. All three sisters worry about outliving their money and what the future might bring.
